Lot of bloggers are asking readers for donations like "Buy Me a beer", "Buy Me a Starbucks Tea", "Buy Me a Coffe" and lot more of phrases, I mean come on, telling you reader to buy you something with a fake smile and trying so hard to make it looks good like "Buy me a beer wordpress plugin".
Your reader will never donate if you are filling pages with tons of ads, because you are already making money.

Keeping it simple "Donate" is a good, only if your visitors trust you and thinks that you worth it they will donate, and don't rely on it as it is only an extra cash for your pocket.
Now what's the good trick, it's starting a page for donators, when someone donate he submit his link and title, and he will get listed in your page and he will get link love and some traffic, it's good also to keep track of your readers and bring them back whenever they forget you ^_^.

I think this is more attractive and actually I am kinda giving the donater something in return, if he son't have a website then the form is optional and he can put his email or leave it empty.

That's up to you to play with the form.

Widget bucks paid me finally, I am amazed and I love it, but right after that someone used my paypal to pay for some hosting reselling company "all of my money", I reported to PayPal resolution center and still waiting for response..
