Simple, new domains are often used by spammers who usually make generated websites that steals content from other places (RSS feeds, Fetched Content, Atom Feeds ..etc) the content on these websites are meaningless and will avoid users from reaching the original content sometimes they even rewrite grammar automatically and their target is fast revenue, traffic and mainly that's called spam, and sometimes just to try and test new spamming techniques, Google, Yahoo and other search engines don't want this to happen so they don't take new domains seriusly and they keep them on the bottom for a while.
That doesn't end here, to avoid search engine ignorance you must:
Write unique content, it took 5 minutes to write this.
Chose the right keywords.
Avoid copy and past content.
Be unique in your niche.
Get lot of links from other relevent domains.
Make sure to optimize your website, classical SEO you know (Meta tags, Titles, headers ... etc)
By doing this, Search engines will trust you fast and start getting you a higher rank and page rank, just do it in the right order and avoid spamming.

Agreed.. New domains always go for quick techniques and the old ones naturally gain the good position.
Thanks a lot for your very useful advice. Much appreciated.
