Guild Wars Access Key

I just downloaded Guild Wars Online as it was titles free to play, then after lunching the game I was surprised that it asks for an Access Key, I didn't even try it, how do I know that its really worth paying that 29$ bucks?, I found a lot of posts about people being scammed and getting a "Key already in use" and never get support.

Grrr that's a waste of bandwidth.
