Utorrent Error:The device is not ready

If you get the message "Error:The device is not ready" on Utorrent every time you try to download something ????

Then you have deleted your downloads folder, changed the drive letter where it is, or downloading a file to an external or network harddisk.

Solution:

Clear all the lists and delete whats on them (Active downloads, Completed, Inactive list) all of them even current downloads, if you don't this wont fix anything, and then go to preference -> Directories and select a new folder for your downloads, then restart Utorrent.

If this didn't work, leave a comment and state your current problem, if it worked then leave a comment also and tell me.

I recently ran in to the same problem. Only difference was my hard drive is partioned in to 2 seperate drives and the user data, for backup purposes, is on the 2nd non-system partition. I had changed the drive letters when doing some work on it recently and any new file I downloaded worked just fine but all the old ones didn't and gave this message. I removed the reference to all the old ones and no problem. However the last little glitch I ran in to was the fact that any of the torrents that got downloaded via the RSS Downloader would still give me the same message. I had specified a download directory in there as well. Once I went in and corrected the drive letter for ALL of the entries in the RSS Downloader they worked fine!

Thanks a lot man! My external HDD is under the H drive instead of F now so uTorrent and everything was screwing up.
